From barricaded streets blocked off for filming to celebrity spotting at local hot spots, we've all seen and heard the buzz about the movies in Michigan.
Aspiring actors and actresses are emerging from all over the region looking for a big break into the film industry. Although the chance to see your name in lights is just as challenging as ever, having a shot at some screen time is becoming much easier.
Several companies around town are offering opportunities for local extras perfect for anyone who wants to try out their acting chops.
The process to get involved is simple. Just register with the company and they'll call you as opportunities arise that may be a fit for you.
Registering is easy, although most companies do require a professional head shot. If you don't have one, contact the photography department at your local university. There are plenty of talented student photographers looking for added experience for their portfolios.
Once you have your photo and bio in order you're good to go. Extra work can be a lot of fun. You'll have the chance to see the proces of film making up close and will have the chance to be captured on screen.
Extra gigs usually pay a flat daily rate and although you won't be making a star studded salary can offer some fun spending cash.
Be prepared that while on set there is often a lot of waiting around so be patient, make some friends and network while you wait. You never know who you'll meet.
