Richard Avedon, the legendary fashion photographer, left his mark on the world of couture with a career of images that spanned the ages.
Now fashion and art fans alike can see his work up close and personal at an exquisite exhibit of his work at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Launching his career as the world exited World War II, Avedon is considered one of the most influential and revolutionary photographers. In addition to his astute eye and celebrity photos, Avedon made his mark by introducing women of color to the fashion pages. From his Chinese-Portugese muse that he featured time and time again to a young African-American model he discovered in Detroit, Avedon wasn't afraid to push limits in the ever evolving world of fashion.
