You will need to be effective/ proficient in marketing and public relations with the ability to multi-task as you report directly to the President and Chief Marketing Officer of International Bancard. You will be tasked with researching and gathering newsworthy information in support of our expanding digital communications – assembling and developing e-newsletter content, managing social media connections, drafting press releases and news alerts and coordinating news syndication and media placements. You'll need to be creative yet strategic; personable yet focused; driven yet proactive enough to spot new opportunities that can bring us visibility, sales leads or revenue streams. You will have at your fingertips the tracking and reporting tools to monitor and report on the success of all integrated marketing tactics in order to report on our marketing ROI, in real-time

Reports To:   President and Chief Marketing Officer

Key Relationships:  Internal: CEO, President and Chief Marketing Officer

Standard Specifications: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of marketing and public relations knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this internship successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

Qualifications:
Essential: Must have the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, quickly synthesize and comprehend complex or diverse information with a strong sense of urgency and follow through in addressing issues. Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel, Access and PowerPoint are a must.

Desirable: Strong problem solving, research, communications (traditional and new media) and a working knowledge of social media. The pursuit of a marketing degree is required.

Physical Abilities:
Essential: Must be able to perform all specified duties in a professional environment

Essential Position Functions:

  • Ensure the successful launch of new campaign initiatives
  • Manage daily production schedules and media blocking charts
  • Monitor and report on key metrics (e.g., inbound call center leads, e-newsletters, direct mail, stats for websites, banners and syndicated press releases)
  • Recommend campaign refinements based on post-launch reviews
  • Collaborate on the design and deployment of loyalty and gift card programs
  • Coordinate communications with outside suppliers
  • Merge/purge customer and prospect databases
  • Proactively identify opportunities for communicating with current and prospective customers

The GFS Canada Marketing team is looking to find an Intern who is interested in gaining invaluable experience through the following activities. We are a growing team within Gordon Food Service and a successful intern will have a great opportunity to potentially shift into a full-time position upon graduation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide tactical support on various item and vendor data integrity projects
  • Establish proper brand identification in our ERP
  • Analyze and update item grouping and segmentation
  • Work with suppliers to assure global trade identification number (GTIN) accuracy
  • Provide reports and analysis as assigned

Background Required:

  • Spring 2010 graduate with Bachelor degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Previous work experience within marketing is preferred, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills
  • Persuasive communication skills are required
